Following the success of the first store in Shipton-by-Beningbrough, York, Brooke’s have taken over Darlington Road Garage, formerly Peter Marwood’s, and have invested significantly to expand the existing retail space to offer high quality food as well as the everyday essentials.

Brooke’s focuses on sourcing local produce of the uppermost standard including award winning butchery and pies from Ken Balsdon Butchers and artisan breads and patisserie from Olivia’s Bakery. In addition, the introduction of an alcohol licence will offer a wide range of fantastic wines, spirits and beers from local breweries.

Tom Brooke, Managing Director of Brooke’s, was quoted as saying that he was “delighted to be opening a second location in Richmond. We work closely with the local community and suppliers to ensure that we offer the best products and service we can. We have wider expansion plans, but are currently focusing on North Yorkshire as we feel it is important to stay close to our roots.”

The petrol forecourt will remain open, giving customers one convenient location to fill up both their cars and their shopping baskets. Brooke’s will offer a competitive fuel price to accompany their extensive food range.

The move will create a number of full and part time jobs and assist in the resurgence of the Richmond economy.

Tom Brooke added that “it’s an exciting time for the company and the feedback we have received so far has been extremely positive.”
